TeenCoders #CodeStudio7, April 3rd – 21st

Computer Programming (3D Game Design with Kodu)

When we started TeenCoders few years back, it was for a simple reason – to give kids and teens unlimited exposure to computers and programming.

We have tried a lot of things, held events and setup strategies; made a lot of mistakes and learnt a lot of lessons, all in an effort to give these talented young people access to IT. We shared free DVD’s, setup online tutorials, setup in-school coding clubs etc.

But one event that has made great impact (it has become our research platform), is #CodeStudio. This event is designed by teens for teens. We ask teens to pick a computer program to learn, within three months we source for the program and setup a camp event for them to learn the computer program.

#CodeStudio is the first computer coding camp for teens and kids in Port Harcourt. The age of participant ranges from 3 years to 16 years. The camp holds between the holiday periods, and features a new coding program each camp. Previous programs include: Mobile Programming, Website Design, 3D Animation etc.

Late last year, these teens made request for 3D Game Programming. We met Microsoft country representative in Abuja and came back with Microsoft’s KODU. It is a rich software designed to teach kids programming, abstraction, spatial intelligence and creativity. With this software, kids can build their world, create characters and program the rules. It is fun, colourful and easy to learn.

So, from April 3rd to 21st, 2017, we will hold #CodeStudio7 in Port Harcourt.
• The venue is Shalom College, 38 Elijiji Road, Woji.
• The classes will be divided into two groups: Group 1 comprises kids from 3 to 10 years or Primary 1 to Primary 6. Group 2 will include kids between 10 and 16 years, or JSS1 to SS2.
• The Fee is just N5,000.
• The best student will go home with a laptop, courtesy of our sponsors.

A parent asked us if the kids would be required to come with their laptops?

    • teencode says:

They don’t need to come witht heir laptops.
But it is better to have a laptop so they can have the software installed and they can practice at home.
      Thanks for contacting us.

    Thank you.
